In May 2025, Crescent Food Bank proudly partnered with Dream Smiles Dental and Bolton Council’s Targeted Early Help Team to deliver a beautiful initiative that brought joy, dignity, and a personal touch to children across Bolton, just in time for Eid.

Following the overwhelming response to Dream Smiles' Ramadan food drive, the team were inspired to do more. This time, their goal was simple but powerful: make local children feel remembered and celebrated during Eid, regardless of their background, faith, or circumstances.

The project, Make a Child Smile This Eid, invited members of the public to visit Dream Smiles Dental Clinic and pick a wish tag from the specially decorated Eid Tree. Each tag represented a real toy wish collected from a child through the Early Help Team and Crescent Food Bank’s family support network. These children included those from low-income families, those affected by crisis, or simply those at risk of feeling forgotten during festive periods.

What made this initiative truly special was its personal approach: each toy was selected with care, specifically for the child who made the wish, reminding them that they are seen, valued, and loved.

The response was heart warming. Patients, staff, and members of the public came together to take part, purchase gifts, and share in the spirit of giving. All gifts were collected, wrapped, and distributed in time for Eid, ensuring children across Bolton received something meaningful and full of joy.

This project beautifully captured what Crescent Food Bank stands for: community-led kindness, delivered with compassion, and rooted in the belief that no child should be left behind, especially during special times of the year.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dream Smiles Dental, the Targeted Early Help Team, and every single person who took part. You truly made a child smile this Eid.
