On Sunday 14th September 2025, Crescent Food Bank Bolton was honoured to be chosen as one of the two beneficiaries of an extraordinary fundraising event featuring Peter Kay in conversation with Sara Cox, held at the prestigious Lowry Lyric Theatre in Salford.
This heartfelt and humorous event brought together two of Bolton’s most beloved figures, Peter Kay, the iconic comedian and actor, and Sara Cox, the renowned radio and television broadcaster, for an intimate conversation reflecting on Peter’s incredible journey from growing up in Bolton to becoming one of the UK’s most cherished entertainers.
The discussion offered rare insights into Peter’s early life, his inspirations, and his much anticipated new memoir “Peter Kay’s Diary,” due for release later this year. As part of the evening, Peter and Sara will explore the soundtrack of his life, sharing the music that shaped key moments of his personal and professional path.
What makes this night even more special is its purpose. All profits from both performances will be generously donated to support the work of Crescent Food Bank Bolton and Bolton Hospice, two local charities providing vital support to those most in need across the community.
The shows, specially recorded for future broadcast, brought not only laughter and nostalgia but also genuine impact, raising much-needed funds at a time when both food insecurity and health inequalities are on the rise. For Crescent Food Bank, these funds will help us continue delivering emergency food parcels, baby essentials, school holiday support, and more for struggling families across Bolton.
We are deeply grateful to Peter Kay and Sara Cox for shining a light on our work. Their support means more families in Bolton can receive the right help at the right time, with dignity, compassion, and care.
