Volunteer With Crescent Food Bank
Crescent Food Bank is run entirely by volunteers. Our volunteers play a vital role in helping us collect, sort, prepare and distribute food and essential items to people experiencing financial hardship.
Volunteering opportunities are subject to availability and the capacity of our premises. Where we are unable to offer an immediate place, applicants may be added to a waiting list until a suitable opportunity becomes available.
Who Can Volunteer?
General volunteering opportunities are available to people aged 16 and over.
Our main food bank operates every Sunday from 10:00am to 11:00am. Volunteer roles may require attendance before the food bank opens and after it closes, depending on the role and rota.
What Our Volunteers Help With
- Preparing and packing food parcels
- Sorting donated and surplus food
- Supporting food collections and deliveries
- Stock organisation and storage
- Helping with community projects and seasonal support programmes
Attendance & Communication
If you are offered a volunteering place, we ask that you attend your agreed sessions regularly and respond to availability messages so that we can plan our volunteer rota effectively.
As a volunteer-led charity, reliable attendance and communication are important to help us provide a consistent service to the people we support.
Duke of Edinburgh Award Volunteering
Duke of Edinburgh Award volunteering is managed separately from our general volunteering programme and has its own eligibility and attendance arrangements.
